Legal Action Instituted By Abbott Laboratories Against Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. Dismissed

OSAKA, Japan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2006--On February 24, 2006, the United States District Court in Chicago dismissed an action Abbott Laboratories had instituted against Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited in 2005. In its lawsuit, Abbott claimed, among other things, that Takeda allegedly has earned excessive profits from its supply of lansoprazole to TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc., a company jointly owned by Takeda and Abbott. Abbott sought to recover a portion of Takeda’s profit, claiming that Takeda forced TAP to continue to purchase its requirement of lansoprazole from Takeda. Takeda vigorously denies Abbott’s allegations.
