MISSISSAUGA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, prepares to support the implementation of the revised Guidelines for the ‘Notification and Testing of New Substances: Chemicals and Polymers’ to be issued by the Government of Canada.

Intertek’s Health, Environmental & Regulatory Services (HERS) Group has extensive expertise and experience helping companies to understand and comply with the requirements of the New Substances Notification Regulations (NSNR). Since 1994 when the NSNR rules took effect, Intertek has provided advice to more than 500 chemical companies and have been directly involved in successfully clearing more than 500 New Substances Notifications. Intertek HERS has been closely involved in the development of the revised Guidelines through active partnerships with numerous international and domestic chemical industry associations.

The Guidelines for the Notification and Testing of New Substances are a key component of Canada’s Chemicals Management Plan and provide specific requirements and instructions to support companies’ notification package development and compliance for substances subject to the New Substances Notification Regulations (NSNR) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA, 1999). These newly amended Guidelines will include numerous changes and additions that the chemical industry will need to consider when introducing new products into Canada and are anticipated to be released at the ICG 2018 CEPA Conference, held in Toronto October 1st through 3rd.

Dan Bastien, Associate Director, HERS at Intertek said, “With our extensive experience in working with Environment Canada, Intertek is well positioned to meet the new scientific, toxicological, and regulatory challenges these revised guidelines will introduce. Intertek’s Total Quality Assurance solutions will continue to help clients meet their chemical compliance objectives in bringing new products to market in the timeliest and most cost-effective manner.”
