How to Make Noise If You’re the Quiet Type

Joan Lloyd (Portland Business Journal) -- My manager recently performed his midyear “checkup” with our staff. I have been in my position for seven months and was surprised by one of his comments. He said he was happy with my performance; however, he started our discussion by saying he believed there is a “disconnect” between how I appear and how I actually am. I’m not sure what I should do with this information. The only explanation he gave about that comment was to say he wasn’t sure I could handle the job when I first started. He added that he doesn’t expect me to change my personality. I’m worried because if it’s not a problem, why did he bring it up?
