TalkPoint, the leading provider of Webcasting and Internet Broadcasting, and FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com, the leading webcast and DVD source for FDA Advisory Committee Meetings, today announced that TalkPoint will be powering the FDA Panel Review of anti-clot drug rivaroxaban, scheduled for March 19th.
The FDA’s Cardiovascular and Renal Drugs Advisory Committee will review this new drug designed to prevent blood clots from forming. If approved, rivaroxaban will be sold in the US for short-term use as an anti-clot preventative for patients undergoing knee- and hip-replacement surgeries. Recently approved in Europe and marketed as Xarelto, rivaroxaban prevents blood clots by targeting and inhibiting a key enzyme involved in the clotting process. This approach is different from that of other anti-clotting drugs on the market, such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi Aventis’ Plavix, which prevents blood platelets from sticking together.
This meeting is part of a two-day Cardio-Renal Advisory Meeting. On March 18, the FDA will discuss Sanofi Aventis’ drug dronedarone and its ability to safely reduce morbidity and mortality in atrial fibrillation patients.
“TalkPoint is proud of our relationship with FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com,” said Nick Balletta, CEO of TalkPoint. He continued, “We have been the underlying technology to FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com for a while now and we love that our technology helps provide a timely outlet for this important information. We understand the significance of the content and we take great pride in the fact that our solution helps the audience get the information in the quickest and easiest way possible.”
