Sophia Antipolis, France - The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) is calling on physicians to pay more attention to the evidence on medical devices and to take a more active role in shaping Europe’s device regulatory system [1]. The ESC just released a consensus report from a policy conference on the regulation of cardiovascular devices in Europe. Participants at the policy conference, held in January, included leaders of cardiology specialty societies and experts from across Europe, as well as representatives of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), the World Heart Federation, the FDA, the European Commission, and European medical-device industry trade associations.
