Bayer Corporation Buys GlaxoSmithKline’s European Pritor Unit

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - German drugs and chemicals group Bayer (BAYG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) has bought GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK.L: Quote, Profile, Research) business marketing blood pressure treatment Pritor in Europe, Bayer said on Tuesday. Pritor, which had an annual turnover of 65 million euros (45 million pounds) in 2005, provides “an excellent strategic fit for Bayer HealthCare’s pharma business”, Bayer said in a statement. It did not disclose the price it paid for the unit.
