CONWAY, N.H., Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Sound Medical Imaging (SMI), a leading ultrasound service provider in New Hampshire, announced it has acquired the new z.one ultrasound system from ZONARE Medical Systems. The z.one system, based on revolutionary new Zone Sonography(TM) technology, is the first installed in the state and is available to patients throughout northern New Hampshire.

Zone Sonography technology has allowed ZONARE Medical Systems to bring the first Convertible Ultrasound(TM) platform to the industry with premium compact image quality at a substantial price to value ratio. Basically, the clinician is able to convert the z.one platform from a full-featured cart system into a compact, portable system quickly with all the quality and performance of substantially larger and more expensive ultrasound units, yet, with significantly higher performance than conventional compact systems.
Combining a fundamentally new advance in ultrasound, Zone Sonography technology, coupled with the z.one platform’s radically new physical design, offers significant clinical and workflow solutions for a wide variety of customer needs in addition to providing a far easier architecture to upgrade when new clinical and computer technology advances become available.

Founded in 2003 by Cartier and Dr. Stanley Whitaker, SMI provides a wide range of ultrasound imaging services to patients. These services include OB/GYN, vascular, abdominal, echocardiography, neurosonography and musculoskeletal imaging.
Prior to SMI, Cartier was radiology manager at The Memorial Hospital in North Conway. He was chief sonographer at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and was a sonographer at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He is a registered diagnostic medical sonographer and an X-ray technologist. Cartier has also been involved in the Mount Washington Valley School to Career program, providing local students an opportunity to learn about imaging as a career.
