SAN DIEGO, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The West Coast agency of Torre Lazur McCann, formerly known as the BioGenesis Group, has appointed Michael Ouimette as president. Ouimette, who brings 30 years of pharmaceutical marketing to the 11-year old agency, will report to Beverly Breitenbach, CEO of the parent organization’s US subsidiary.
“Michael was brought in to recharge the West Coast agency, providing the vision and drive to consolidate its strategic direction with those of the other agencies under our corporate roof,” explained Breitenbach, who is based at the company’s official headquarters in Parsippany, N.J.
Pointing out that the BioGenesis Group was created in 1993 as part of the Torre Lazur family, she added that the decision to change the agency’s name was part of a nationwide reorganization. “We wanted to reflect a single image and philosophy, telling clients that we’re not biotech or pharma, not professional or consumer, but the right agency for any healthcare marketing assignment.”
As president, Ouimette is responsible for the overall management and success of Torre Lazur West, as well as for new business development. Current clients include Chiron, Gilead Sciences and Avanir.
He joined the firm following nearly ten years at Pacific Communications in Irvine, CA, where he was senior vice president for client services. In addition to directing strategic development, he managed the integration of three communication groups, including account services, medical education and managed care.
Other milestones in his career include Parnell Pharmaceuticals, Inc. of Lakespur, CA, where he was vice president for marketing and sales, responsible for launch strategies to penetrate cancer, autoimmune and AIDS markets. In the mid-eighties, as part of the Foote, Cone & Belding/VICOM Healthcare Division in San Francisco, he directed the worldwide launch of Capoten, Squibb’s revolutionary drug for hypertension and heart failure. He began his career at Sudler & Hennessey, Inc. in New York City.
A graduate of Western Connecticut State College, Michael Ouimette is a resident of Laguna Beach, CA. He and his wife Beverly have three grown children.
