BALTIMORE, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greater Baltimore Committee today launched a new website for its regional bioscience initiative. The new website, titled “GBC BioScience Connector,” will be used as a communication tool to educate business, community and political leaders about the regional economic growth in the life science industry. “The GBC bioscience website will make it easier for researchers, scientists, students, media, and the general public to find information about the Baltimore region’s life science industry,” said GBC President Donald C. Fry. “With more than 70 bioscience companies in the region and the three research parks attracting companies both within and outside area universities, the GBC seeks to continue to make information accessible to this rapidly growing population.”
Website users can easily locate information on topics including research parks, companies, resources, legislation, and bioscience studies. A “News and Events” section provides timely articles and details about events in the region.
The Greater Baltimore Committee is a regional, membership organization of more than 450 businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Members are located in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties. The GBC has identified support for the bioscience industry in a region as one of its top three priorities. The GBC seeks out opportunities for economic growth, helps solve regional problems, and speaks for the business community with legislators and government officials. The GBC works to create a positive environment for people to work and live. Projects the GBC has spearheaded include the development of the Inner Harbor, the Hippodrome Theater, and the Camden Yards sports stadium. Its current top strategic priorities include strengthening bioscience industry growth, development of a fast and reliable transit system in the Baltimore region, and nurturing the development of minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
