GlaxoSmithKline to Cut Jobs as it Reorganizes Pharma Unit

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced a change to the business focus and organisational structure of its pharmaceutical division, based in Melbourne, yesterday. These changes will result in the reduction of about 90 positions from the pharmaceutical business, but will not impact manufacturing. Geoff McDonald, GSK’s general manager pharmaceuticals said the job cuts came as a result of difficult conditions in the Australian market. “Funding for medicines is currently very challenging in Australia,” he said.
