GE Healthcare selected the Eurotech TurboXb as the embedded platform for the EView to assist medical professionals in storing, retrieving and maintaining patient ventilator data for accurate and fast reporting. They chose Eurotech to assemble the EView platform with the TurboXb computer on module, and Eurotech was also responsible for the board support package to integrate with Microsoft® Windows® CE 5.0.

"We chose the Eurotech TurboXb computer on module because it was already a proven, stable platform," said Paul Hunsicker, Global Product Manager for GE Healthcare. "We knew from experience how long it could take to develop a new hardware platform and board support package. Working with Eurotech streamlined the process and helped us get the EView to market faster."

With extensive experience designing embedded computers for medical devices, Eurotech's design engineers offered GE Healthcare a unique familiarity with FDA requirements. To meet regulatory requirements, Eurotech tested and adjusted the EView for shock and vibration, electrostatic discharge, electromagnetic emissions and temperature.

"GE Healthcare and Eurotech worked together to create a rugged embedded product that would be safe and reliable for healthcare professionals," said Greg Nicoloso, CEO of Eurotech Inc. "We followed the product from concept to completion as a partner with GE Healthcare, rather than just a hardware provider. Our value comes from offering customers full support during the development process, and the EView project moved along seamlessly."

Eurotech's TurboXb offers an economical, reliable system to get products to market effectively and efficiently. The Eurotech TurboXb system, consisting of a processor module coupled with an application-specific personality board, is a full featured, low power, XScale-based embedded computer system. With Eurotech's unique customization capabilities, GE Healthcare modified the personality board to bring out I/O features specific for the EView application.

Eurotech is a Gold Level partner in the Microsoft Windows Embedded partner program.
