CARY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Project Data Sphere, LLC, an independent, not-for-profit initiative of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, Inc.’s Life Sciences Consortium, established to share, integrate and analyze historical cancer data to accelerate research, has named Bill Louv as its new president. A 30-year pharmaceutical industry veteran and former member of GlaxoSmithKline’s corporate executive team, Louv offers broad leadership experience in statistics, epidemiology, and information technology.

“The CEO Roundtable on Cancer leadership and the Project Data Sphere team have created a great platform for integrating and analyzing cancer clinical trial data,” said Louv. “I’m pleased to have the opportunity to lead the Project Data Sphere initiative as we continue to dramatically increase the volume of data and the number of scientific inquiries based on the data.”

Christopher Viehbacher, immediate past President of Project Data Sphere and Managing Partner at Gurnet Point Capital, who also served as Chairman of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer for four years, noted, “It’s always a pleasure to work with Bill who is such a tremendous professional. He will be able to build upon what has been achieved by the Project Data Sphere initiative and take it to the next level.”

A free digital library-data laboratory, the Project Data Sphere cancer research platform (www.ProjectDataSphere.org) was launched in April 2014. The platform has grown to patient-level data representing more than 120,000 clinical trial cancer patients.
