Food and Drug Law Institute Announces Two New Board Members

Washington, DC – The Food & Drug Law Institute (FDLI) is pleased to announce the addition of two new members to the Board of Directors: Cathy Burgess, Partner, Alston & Bird; and Carla Cartwright, Director, Global Regulatory Policy, Johnson & Johnson. They join 14 other highly respected leaders in the food and drug law field.

Cathy Burgess is a Partner at Alston & Bird where she focuses her practice on regulatory compliance, product risk management, enforcement and policy matters affecting industries regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Carla Cartwright is Director of Global Regulatory Policy at Johnson & Johnson where she manages a variety of global regulatory policy issues across the pharmaceutical, consumer and medical device sectors.

In addition, Jennifer Bragg, Partner, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP has been named to the Executive Committee as Chair, following Jeffrey N. Gibbs, Director, Hyman, Phelps & McNamara, PC who begins his term as Immediate Past Chair. Also serving on the Executive Committee are Treasurer Frederick R. Ball, Partner, Duane Morris LLP; Secretary and General Counsel, Daniel Kracov, Partner, Arnold & Porter; and Amy Comstock Rick, President and CEO, FDLI.

In announcing the incoming board members, Chair Bragg stated, "I am excited about having Cathy and Carla join the Board and share their knowledge and insights. They are respected and accomplished leaders and will make strong contributions to FDLI."

FDLI thanks the two outgoing members of the Board of Directors: Joy Liu, Vice President, Commercial and Regulatory Legal, Vertex Pharmaceuticals; and Scott Melville, President and CEO, Consumer Healthcare Products Association; who brought valuable insights in their FDLI Board service.

The Food and Drug Law Institute (FDLI) is a nonprofit membership organization that offers education, training, publications, and professional networking opportunities in the field of food and drug law. As a neutral convener, FDLI provides a venue for stakeholders to inform innovative public policy, law, and regulation.
