UK-Founded Cambridge Consultants Kicks Off U.S. Recruitment Campaign

Cambridge, MA and UK – December 10, 2012 – Cambridge Consultants, a leading design and development firm based in the United Kingdom, has kicked off a US recruitment effort to identity and attract new talent in the medical technology arena – with the goal of doubling the number of employees at the company’s US headquarters in Cambridge, Mass., over the next four years. The recruitment campaign comes after company leaders announced their US expansion plans during Governor Deval Patrick’s UK trade mission last spring.

“Cambridge Consultants is an example of an international company that is committed to growing its operations here in the Commonwealth,” said Governor Patrick. “Massachusetts offers a robust life sciences industry as well as a highly skilled workforce, which is critical as international companies look to expand their US operations.”

Centrally located in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Mass., Cambridge Consultants is looking to hire numerous experienced professionals with engineering degrees, including program managers, particularly those with experience in developing medical devices. The company’s unique approach allows its engineers and experts to work both with emerging start-ups and Fortune 500 blue chips on a variety of projects ranging from those in drug delivery to diagnostics and surgical.

“We are excited to kick off this recruitment drive for our US office, and to do so in collaboration with the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center,” said David Bradshaw, Director of the US Medical Technology division at Cambridge Consultants. “Although Massachusetts offers a hub of talent and opportunity, our future growth and success is tied to our ability to tap into these resources to find the right candidates that will help us expand the capabilities of our Medical Technology division here in our Cambridge facility.”

“We are thrilled to see Cambridge Consultants creating jobs and taking advantage of the local talent here in Massachusetts,” said Susan Windham-Bannister, Ph.D., President & CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, the agency charged with implementing Gov. Patrick’s 10-year, $1 billion Life Sciences Initiative. “Cambridge Consultants is joining a growing list of international life sciences companies that are expanding their operations in Massachusetts, and I am confident that David and his team will find the community support and rich talent base needed to continue to grow their business here in the Commonwealth.”

“We congratulate Cambridge Consultants as they continue to grow in Massachusetts,” said Ken Brown, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office of International Trade & Investment. “Cambridge Consultants is an example of the deep collaboration in the innovation economy between the Commonwealth and the UK since Governor Patrick’s mission in 2011.”

“Since arriving in Massachusetts eight years ago, Cambridge Consultants has been an active and valued player in the local medtech community,” said Tom Sommer, President of the Massachusetts Medical Device Council (MassMEDIC). “The firm’s growth is the result of presenting medtech companies with first-rate solutions to their product development needs.”

Several examples of recently-developed Cambridge Consultants projects include a device that simplifies the way tumor cells are detected in the bloodstream and a diagnostics device that will provide critically-needed data to guide the treatment of bleeding and blood clots in surgery, trauma and intensive care.
