(NASDAQ: BLTI), the world’s leading dental laser company, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued to BIOLASE two new patents, Patent Number 7,817,687 entitled, “Electromagnetic Energy Distribution for Electromagnetically Induced Mechanical Cutting,” related to the core Waterlase® YSGG™ technology and Patent Number 7,815,630, entitled, “Target-Close Electromagnetic Energy Emitting Device,” related to its ezlase™ and iLase™ diode laser technology.
Dmitri Boutoussov, Chief Technology Officer, explained, “The first patent extends our Waterlase technology patent family related specifically to the unique combination of laser wavelength, pulse shape characteristics and fluid spray for the ablation of hard tissue with optimum efficiency and extends into embodiments that protect BIOLASE for future generations of hard tissue lasers. The second patent is a very broad patent that covers our current diode laser designs, disposable, bendable tips, pulse technology and a variety of other ergonomic configurations for portable diode lasers.”
