Torax Medical Inc., which has developed a ring of magnetic beads that can treat acid-reflux disease, recently raised $4 million in financing.
The Shoreview-based company seeks a total of $8 million, according to a regulatory filing. The company’s device, dubbed Linx, is placed around a muscle that sits where the esophagus and stomach intersect. The energy created by the magnetic beads, which are made of titanium, strengthens the muscle and prevents acid from seeping into the throat.
