Statins Don’t Increase “Lou Gehrig’s” Risk, FDA Reports

MedPage -- A new analysis by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of data from over 40 clinical trials did not show a link between statins, drugs used to lower cholesterol, and higher risk of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. The FDA said there is no need to change prescribing practice.
