Mandatory clinical trial registries have been proposed in eight U.S. state legislatures and passed into law in Maine. Industry organizations and professional publications have joined the push to make public registration of key clinical trial information compulsory in the name of transparency although obligatory publication of trial results remains controversial, according to Christine Shoemaker, a regulatory consultant with ShoeBar Associates.
