Singapore medical researchers will begin clinical trials this month on a new technique that may give victims of liver cancer an extra lease on life by injecting silicon into tumors to treat infected cells. Current drug and radiation treatments used against liver cancer usually kill healthy cells as well, preventing doctors from giving the required dosage in some cases, especially to patients too ill to withstand traditional heavy radiation.
