The controversy over its Mediator appetite supressant for diabetics is not yet resolved and now Servier Laboratories faces yet another scandal over undisclosed side effects associated with a different drug. This time, the French drugmaker is accused of hiding problems that can be caused by its Protelos osteoporosis med, according to the Liberation newspaper, which cited French regulators. The report indicates that the Agence Francaise de Securite Sanitaire des Produits de Sante, or AFSSAPS, found eight serious violations with some affecting the safety or well being of patients in a negative way or posing a possible hazard for public health, according to a follow-up report in Le Monde, another French newspaper (read here).
