MARQUETTE, Mich., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Pioneer Surgical Technology, Inc. announced today the market release of the Cross-Fuse(TM) Lateral Option System. The Cross-Fuse is Pioneer’s latest addition to a comprehensive family of PEEK (poly-ether-ether-ketone) VBRs.
Dr. Richard Nussbaum of the Los Angeles Orthopaedic Institute in Sherman Oaks, California says, “The Cross-Fuse provides surgeons the option of performing a lateral procedure for fusing the spine which is less disrupting to back muscles, ligaments and major vessels in posterior spinal surgery. The use of Cross-Fuse in conjunction with percutaneous fixation results in improved patient outcomes.” According to Nussbaum, “By combining an easy to use implant system with a lateral approach procedure, it’s likely we’ll see reduced Operating Room times.” The Cross-Fuse System is designed to restore the biomechanical integrity of the thoracolumbar spine.
“The entire Cross-Fuse system, from implants to instrumentation, is well thought out,” according to Dr. Thomas Highland of the Columbia Orthopaedic Group, Columbia, Missouri. Highland states, “The innovative design of the trial spacers and other instruments are very user-friendly, and the PEEK material in the Cross-Fuse implants causes no artifact in MRI or CT imaging.”
The Cross-Fuse system is designed to be used with Pioneer’s Quantum(R) Spinal Rodding System and the Clarity(TM) Lateral Retractor System.
