A panel of leading women in pharmacy discussed the history and significance of women in the field, including changing demographics, the pay gap between men and women in pharmacy, changes in policy and culture, tips for pharmacist moms and different career paths within pharmacy.
Expert panelists include moderator Suzanne Soliman, Pharm.D., BCMAS, founder of the Pharmacist Moms Group; Alexandra Broadus, Pharm.D., director, patient outcomes performance for Walgreens; Kate Gainer, Pharm.D., executive vice president and CEO, Iowa Pharmacy Association; Brooke Griffin, Pharm.D., vice chair of clinical services, Midwestern University; and Linda MacLean, B. On Oct. 12, #WomenPharmacistDay will celebrate the significant gains that women have made in pharmacy careers, honor the trailblazers who have made such progress possible and recognize the important contributions that women pharmacists make every day to deliver quality care to patients nationwide.

COVID-19 has created a new set of realities that none of us could have imagined. Over half of pharmacists in the US are women who have today, more than ever, had to juggle work and home life responsibilities. We are happy to partner with Pharmacy Times on this important day,” said Suzanne Soliman, Pharm.D., BCMAS, founder of the Pharmacist Moms Group.
This year, the Woman Pharmacist of the Year award will be presented to a female pharmacist who has made a significant impact on the practice of pharmacy. Selected by an expert steering committee, the winner the winner has shown leadership and serves as an example in the field of pharmacy and in other aspects of her life. The award winner will receive a commemorative plaque, and Pharmacist Moms Group will make $250 donation to a charity of the winner’s choice. An additional Independent Woman Pharmacist of the Year commemorative plaque award will be presented to a female pharmacist owner. The award will be presented live by Suzanne Soliman during a Facebook live event on the Pharmacist Moms Group page Oct 12th at 9 a.m. EDT.
