Taussig was president and CEO of National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, the nation’s leading institution for studying respiratory diseases, from 1993 to 2006. His medical specialty is pediatric pulmonology.

He currently serves as special advisor to the Provost for Life Sciences at the University of Denver and is on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Biosciences Association.
MicroPhage is in late stage development for its bacterial detection and susceptibility diagnostic system. The first products are targeted for rapid detection of MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and MSSA (methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus) for screening and diagnostic applications.
