Locally-Based Aegis Celebrates 15th Anniversary With Signing Of Four New Agreements With Hospitals Nationwide

NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Aegis, the nation's leading healthcare business development company and a member of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month with the signing of four new agreements with hospitals across the United States.

The four hospitals which have become Aegis clients are: East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana; Medical Center of Arlington in Arlington, Texas; North Hills Hospital in North Richland, Texas; and St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California. Each of these hospitals has engaged Aegis to assist their facility in effectively linking the hospital's services and programs with the health-related needs of local employers and their workforce.

Since pioneering the concept of employer-directed marketing in 1989, no other company focused on such alternative marketing in healthcare has been able to match Aegis' breadth of services, track record and bottom-line performance. In the year ended December 31, 2003, company revenue increased 34 percent and clients increased 42 percent as compared to 2002. The Aegis approach to "employer market segmentation" has been successfully used in more than 70 markets and 7,000 employer sites across the United States.

"Hospitals can provide tremendous value to their community by matching their facility's programs and services with the specific healthcare needs of the local population," said Aegis Chief Executive Officer Robert Chamberlain. "Through Aegis, hospitals work with area employers to identify specific employee health risks and then match those with early detection, prevention and education initiatives focused on specific diseases such as heart, cancer and diabetes. This has shown to not only improve the health of the community but save meaningful dollars in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers' compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures."

For-profit, not-for-profit and academic medical centers receive through Aegis proprietary software and Internet applications as well as Aegis' employer-based Health Information Centers, Personal Health Surveys and Personal Health Reports. Combined, these tools provide employees a confidential snapshot into their own health risks while cementing a bond between that workforce and the local hospital. The information also allows senior management at area employers to identify potential healthcare costs and risks among their employees and, in conjunction with the sponsoring hospital, proactively move at-risk employees into appropriate hospital-based programs.

"Over the past decade the healthcare industry has changed and has become more aware of the power of effective, targeted marketing," said Chamberlain. "Aegis has been able to stay ahead of this curve by enriching our own product portfolio from a simple presence in the employer worksite to sophisticated software and business development strategies that have proven to be a winning formula for both hospital and employer in every market we've entered."

Aegis is located at One Burton Hills Boulevard in Nashville. Further information on the company may be obtained at http://www.aegisgroup.com/.
