MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Oct. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Hologic, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOLX) announced today that the Company intends to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year by making 30 donations of up to $30,000 each to selected local non-profit organizations focused on education and healthcare.
“Hologic is pleased to be able to celebrate our 30th anniversary by significantly increasing our corporate philanthropy activities,” said Steve MacMillan, the Company’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to partnering with non-profit organizations to improve the quality of education and healthcare in our employees’ communities.”
“Thirty years ago this month, Hologic was founded to develop an X-ray bone densitometer,” said Jay Stein, Ph.D., the Company’s co-founder and Chairman Emeritus, who now serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer. “Since then, our products have improved or protected the health of hundreds of millions of people around the world. This new corporate philanthropy program is one small way we can further broaden our impact.”
Hologic intends to provide the grants to selected non-profit organizations with programs focused in one of two specific areas: science, technology, engineering and math education; and healthcare in areas of corporate interest, such as women’s health. The grants will be concentrated in communities around the world where Hologic’s employees work and live, and some may be disbursed over multiple years.
Non-profit organizations that meet these criteria can apply for a grant at: http://www.hologic.com/about-hologic. All applications must be submitted through this on-line portal.
Most of the grants will be distributed from the Hologic Charitable Fund, which is managed by the San Diego Foundation.
