Pittsburgh Business Times -- A German medical devices company has moved its headquarters to Green Tree, near Pittsburgh.
Medical Sensors Technologies Inc., or Mesotec, is developing an ophthalmic device for more effective treatment of glaucoma, according to a release from the Allegheny Conference on Community and Economic Development. Glaucoma is a chronic disease that can lead to blindness.
Mesotec is currently working with clinical partners to test the device, and plans to meet with the Food and Drug administration in the coming months. Mesotec hopes to begin human trials in the fall.
The company, formerly based in Hannover, was wooed to Pittsburgh by the Allegheny Conference, when the economic development group tagged along on trips to Europe with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 2006 and earlier this year.
