MEXICO CITY, July 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Genomma Lab Internacional, S.A.B. de C.V. (“Genomma” or “the Company”), a leading Mexican over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and personal care products company announced yesterday that it had acquired the brand and related rights and registrations of UNIGASTROZOL, from Unipharm de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. This over-the-counter product is used for the reduction and control of gastrointestinal symptoms that are produced by excessive acid secretion and is also helpful in the treatment of gastritis, heartburn, reflux and esophagitis. It is based on a molecule that allows for faster absorption than that of Omeoprazol.
With this acquisition, Genomma Lab complements its line of anti-acid products, in particular its product Genoprazol. The category under which Unigastrozol participates reached sales of over US$ 50 million in 2007.
This is Genomma’s first acquisition since listing on the Mexican Stock Exchange in June, when it raised capital seeking to accelerate growth.
