Reusable menstrual pads, for all intents and purposes, are simple pads that some women choose to wear and wash in place of Kotex and other disposable pads that are produced with various chemicals. Typically the reusable menstrual pads are made of cellulosic or synthetic material used to absorb menstrual fluid or other vaginal discharge. Essentially there is not much difference between a reusable pad and a cloth diaper — other than the design. That’s why it was weird that the FDA recently decided to classify these cloth pads as medical devices.
