West Sussex County Council said it has struck a “landmark deal” to buy the 19.6-acre site in Horsham which was vacated by the Switzerland-based company in 2014.
Plans are being drafted to turn the disused plot into a leading site for health and life sciences, hosting firms in life-saving research work and the development of innovative technology.
Officials in West Sussex - which has more than 90 firms in the health and life sciences sector - said the site will also house start-up companies in the field.
