UAE, Dubai, November 1, 2018: Dubai The Model Centre, an entity under the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, has announced the eight government initiatives that are competing for the privilege to carry the ‘Flag’ of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government this year. The final eight initiatives were shortlisted out of the 33 initiatives that were implemented by 24 government entities during this year’s programme.
The eight shortlisted candidates competing for the ‘Flag’ of Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government are;
- Smart Police Station initiative by Dubai Police
- Entry Permit 50+ initiative by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA)
- Smart Bail by Public Prosecution
- My Vehicle initiative by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)
- Smart Park initiative by Dubai Municipality
- Smart Pharmacy and Dubai Technique for Mitral heart valve repair surgery initiatives by Dubai Health Authority (DHA)
- Smart Transport by Jebel Ali Free Zone
Jebel Ali Free Zone’s Smart Transport initiative aims to facilitate the movement of trucks and goods to and from internal and external gates through the use of smart systems that help in accurately inspecting the containers and easily booking clearance dates of goods. The ‘Entry Permit 50+’ initiative by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), aims to make decisions quickly and accurately, which contributes to reducing the time of customers journey and raises the efficiency of service by utilizing AI technology. The ‘My Vehicle’ initiative by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) aims to issue permanent electronic registration for one time and send it to the customer through e-mail or via the RTA app--renewing it every year after the completion of vehicle testing procedures.
DHA’s Dubai Technique initiative will make the Mitral heart valve repair surgery, faster, easier and done with greater precision and are compatible with the approved treatment of each individual case. The Public Prosecution initiative called the Smart Bail, issues an electronic notification to restrict departure of pending case defendants. Dubai Municipality’s Smart Park initiative aims to integrate a number of smart transformation pathways and to launch all new facilities through smart applications and educational virtualization (VR).
DHA’s Smart Pharmacy Initiative aims to reduce the waiting time of getting medicine and its prescription according to best international standards of safety and accuracy.
Finally, the Dubai Police’s Smart Police Station initiative falls in line with the government’s directives and global developments in the field of technology, enabling to report criminal cases.
Commenting on this Eman Al Suwaidi, Senior Director of Dubai The Model Centre, said: “The Dubai Model Center, in cooperation with various government entities, have achieved positive results in improving the customer experience with government services through innovative initiatives implemented this year. We praise the role of innovation teams from different government entities that have worked with us during this year and have the spirit of teamwork and integration, which aims to help achieve the leadership’s vision in terms of providing public services.”
Al Suwaidi added: “We congratulate all the nominated entities and wish them success in the coming period. We look forward to finding out who will receive the Flag of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government this year.”
The best government initiative will be open for votes this year from November 12 to December 4 at http://vote.dtmc.gov.ae. The ‘Flag’ will be given to the government entity who will receive the largest number of votes for a year.
Government entities that have previously won the ‘Flag’ of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government are RTA for Express Metro Initiative, Trakhees, for Shamil Initiative and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) electronic ticketing, the RTA for its Smart Shelter initiative.
Dubai Municipality is currently raising the flag of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Programme for Smart Government for its Montaji initiative.
