Clinilabs, Inc. Selected for a Study to Test the Effects of Vestibular Stimulation on Chronic Insomnia

New York, NY (October 22, 2010) – Clinilabs, a contract research organization that provides early-stage and specialty clinical drug development services to industry, announced today that it has been selected to conduct a clinical research study to test the efficacy of a vestibular stimulation device on people with chronic insomnia.

This study award follows the publication of findings from a previous study of the same device, entitled: “The Effect of Vestibular Stimulation in a Four-hour Sleep Phase Advance Model of Transient Insomnia,” which appears in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (Krystal, et. al., 2010, JCSM, 6(4): 315 – 321). Dr. Gary Zammit, President and CEO of Clinilabs, and a contributing author of the paper, states “this preliminary study provides evidence that vestibular stimulation may shorten sleep onset latency compared with sham therapy in a subset of subjects with transient insomnia.” The current study is important because it will further test the effectiveness of non-invasive vestibular stimulation in people with chronic insomnia who have difficulty falling asleep.

Enrollment for the current study is expected to begin later this month. Individuals in the New York City Metro area who are interested in participation may contact our dedicated recruitment staff at 212-994-4567 to prequalify. Male and female volunteers between the ages of 21-65, who suffer from insomnia, may be eligible. Additional information may also be found by visiting www.clinilabs.com/insomnia.
