Ceremed Appoints Vice President for Sales and Business Development

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ceremed, Inc., a medical device corporation, announced today that it has appointed Mr. Anthony Ruggiero as its new Vice President for Sales and Business Development. Mr. Ruggiero will join Ceremed and its affiliate corporation, Bioplate, Inc. at their Los Angeles corporate headquarters to direct global sales and strategic business development operations for both companies. He will assume his responsibilities on February 25th.

Mr. Ruggiero comes to Ceremed from Invibio, a biomaterials subsidiary of Victrex USA, where he served as the Americas and Asia Pacific Commercial Director. He was instrumental in developing Invibio’s market for PEEK-OPTIMA, an implantable polymer material used in a variety of medical applications, including orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures. “We believe the combination of Mr. Ruggiero’s market expertise, his established contacts with market leaders, and Ceremed’s unique technology should allow him to create a substantial market for our company’s new polymer products due to be launched this Spring,” said Tadeusz Wellisz, M.D., President of Ceremed.

The planned launch of porous polyethylene maxillofacial implants coated with Ceremed’s proprietary soluble Alkylene Oxide Copolymers (AOC) should benefit immediately from Mr. Ruggiero’s industry connections and product knowledge. “The coating of the Porous Polyethylene (PPE) products with the AOC component will address the tissue grab problem, which currently limits the usefulness of existing products,” said Dr. Wellisz. Other products planned for release include a line of AOC-coated porous metal implants designed to improve the ease of handling and application of the implants when they come into contact with human tissue.

“I very much look forward to bringing my experience and skills to Ceremed,” said Mr. Ruggiero. “The company’s cutting-edge technology has the potential to revolutionize the wound management and implant market. Alkylene Oxide Copolymers open tremendous possibilities in the development of soluble delivery systems for various therapeutic agents, from antibiotics to bone growth factors. I am very excited about the opportunity to make Ceremed’s innovative products available to surgeons and their patients.”
