BioStorage Technologies, Inc. Invests $250,000 to Expand Sample Management Operation into Europe and Add New Facility in Frankfurt, Germany

INDIANAPOLIS, April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- BioStorage Technologies, Inc. (BST), a worldwide leader in short-term and long-term biomaterials storage, sample management and cold chain logistics, today announced plans to invest $250,000 to expand its operation into Europe and open a new full-service biorepository in Frankfurt, Germany by July 1. BST debuts its European service offerings to the international pharmaceutical industry at the Biobanking & Biorepositories tradeshow in Amsterdam, April 25-27, at booth #3.

BST has already signed a lease in Germany and will spend the next few months building out the new state-of-the-art facility, validating processes, training staff and installing equipment. The company will begin offering services effective July 1. BST’s European operation will feature the same unparalleled sample management services, assets and standard operating procedures currently offered through the company’s U.S. headquarters.

“Our expansion into Europe is part of BioStorage Technologies’ long-term strategic growth plan to provide secure sample and specimen storage, shipping and tracking to global life science, biopharmaceutical and healthcare businesses,” said F. John Mills, M.D., Ph.D., chief executive officer and chairman of the board. “Through this central European location, we intend to replicate the successes, infrastructure and best practices developed and perfected at our Indianapolis facility. This second site will enable us to contribute to Europe’s fast-growing pharmaceutical industry and position ourselves for future growth in other world markets.”

BST strategically selected Frankfurt -- a European life sciences hub -- to support the increase in pharmaceutical research and development outside of the United States. BST’s expansion will serve as an entry point into other global markets and will allow the company to create additional alliances and partnerships with new biotech and pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

BST’s new biorepository will target European-based pharmaceutical and biotech firms, donor organizations and banks and research and academic organizations. As with the U.S.-based operation, the Frankfurt site will offer worldwide, industry-compliant logistics and supply chain management and will meet all international customs and transportation regulations and documentation requirements.
