College Station, TX – 1/20/2017 – TriFusion Devices (TriFusion - College Station, TX) and Standard Cyborg (San Francisco, CA) are forming a partnership wherein TriFusion’s exceptional materials and printing capabilities will be paired with Standard Cyborg’s state-of-the-art software platform to create a modern solution for the Orthotics and Prosthetics biomedical sector (O&P). Together, the pairing is excited to push the boundaries of speed, efficiency, and access for O&P clinics, and their patients, globally. This begins with the digital design of prosthetic sockets and will soon extend to the orthotics community as well, providing AFOs, SMOs, and orthopedic insoles, among other solutions.
The Future of Prosthetic Devices
Standard Cyborg and TriFusion Devices offer a modern platform which improves the cost performance and delivery time over prosthetic and orthotic devices produced by today’s artisanal process. Those in need of prosthetics or orthotics will have their limbs scanned by a certified clinician, armed with an iPad-mounted scanner. The clinician uses Standard Cyborg’s scanning and design solutions to create a custom-fit geometry, perfectly suited to the geometry of the individual patient. The 3D model is then sent to TriFusion Devices where their proprietary processes create a 3D printed diagnostic- or definitive-socket (definitives coming soon!). The device is then shipped to the clinic, usually in a matter of hours, where the device is fitted to the patient by the clinician.
About TriFusion Devices
TriFusion’s President, Blake Teipel, explained, “It is TriFusion’s mission to bring freedom to people around the world. This partnership will extend our reach and allow us to be part of a solution that brings both freedom of mobility and financial freedom to individuals in every part of the globe.” Armed with this vision and breakthrough materials and 3D printing technology, Teipel and the TriFusion team have won several awards on national and international stages and were invited to ring the opening bell for the NASDAQ (Oct. 10, 2016) in honor of their technology’s promise. TriFusion has been featured in Forbes, Engineering.com, BBC Click, 3DPrinting.com, and many others. TriFusion’s patent-pending materials and printing technology help to usher in the future of prosthetic devices, and offer O&P clinics 3D printed solutions that finally work, allowing clinicians to see more patients while reducing operating costs.
About Standard Cyborg
Jeff Huber, Standard Cyborg’s cofounder, has a vision to create “products that help humans push beyond their natural capabilities,” by creating a future in which “intuitive and powerful software will help practitioners to make every prosthetic and orthotic device on earth.” The Standard Cyborg team is making great strides toward making this future a reality. Standard Cyborg came out of the renowned Silicon Valley accelerator, Y-Combinator, and has been featured in FastCompany, NBC, Tech Crunch, Business Insider, among others. Standard Cyborg’s easy-to-use cloud software, Design Studio, allows prosthetists and orthotists to save time and improve their workflow. Standard Cyborg’s intuitive solution is being increasingly recognized and their partnerships with prosthetics clinics are expanding quickly, keeping the vision that design software for prostheses should be developed with the prosthetist in mind, alive and well.
