Stockton Israel (STK), a leader in innovative botanical based crop protection signed an extension to its joint research agreement with Yeda Research and Development Company Ltd., for the joint research with Prof. Assaf Aharoni’s Plant Sciences laboratory. The agreement includes an option for an exclusive, royalty bearing license to develop new Bioinsecticide.
Yeda Research and Development Company Ltd. is the commercial arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel. Yeda holds an exclusive agreement with the Weizmann Institute to commercialize the unique intellectual property developed by the scientists. “The signing of this agreement represents our deep strategic relationship with the Weitzman Institute in general and with Prof. Assaf Aharoni’s Plant Sciences laboratory, in particular,” said Guy Elitzur, CEO of Stockton Group. “Extending our research with the Weizmann Institute and collaborating ever more closely, leveraging both parties’ expertise, is an important step to address the requirements of modern crop protection.”
Though biopesticides are still in their infancy, they are, nonetheless, important and Stockton’s vision is to become a leader in the industry. During the last decade, Stockton has been focusing on the research and development of bio-products for the agriculture industry besides the already well-known products, like the Timorex Gold fungicide. Stockton explores the potential capabilities of plant extracts with the intention of integrating them into conventional spraying programs.
“We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with ongoing cooperation in various projects, concluded Mr. Elitzur.”
