Peter Brandt Joins Board of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals

MALVERN, Pa., Dec. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Auxilium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: AUXL), a specialty biopharmaceutical company, today announced that Peter Brandt has joined its Board of Directors as an independent director. “We believe Peter’s extensive experience in corporate finance and product commercialization is well-suited to enhance Auxilium’s drive to build shareholder value,” said Rolf Classon, Chairman of the Board of Auxilium. “We look forward to his contributions to the Auxilium Board of Directors.”

Mr. Brandt was most recently President and Chief Executive Officer of Noven Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company. He served as President, CEO, and as a member of the Board of Directors from early 2008 to late 2009, at which time Noven was acquired by Hisamitsu. Before leading Noven, Mr. Brandt was the President of U.S. Pharmaceuticals Operations at Pfizer in 2006. Prior to leading Pfizer’s U.S. Pharmaceuticals Operations, Mr. Brandt held roles at Pfizer with both operational responsibilities - as President of Latin America Pharmaceuticals Operations, and global pharmaceuticals staff responsibilities - as Senior Vice President of Finance, Information Technology, Planning and Business Development, and Pfizer Health Solutions. Mr. Brandt began his 28-year career at Pfizer in Finance. Since September of 2010, Mr. Brandt has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Mr. Brandt holds a BA from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the Columbia School of Business.
