ORLANDO, Fla., May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- PainCare Holdings, Inc. today announced that Orthopedic Medicine of Alexandria, Ltd. (OMA), based in Alexandria, Virginia, has signed agreements with the Company to deploy both the MedX-Direct Rehabilitation Program and the EDX-Direct Program on-site at the practice.
PainCare offers turnkey, on-site, rehab and electro-diagnostic programs directly to independent physician practices, group practices and medical institutions under a revenue-sharing arrangement. The MedX-Direct Rehabilitation Program provides the most advanced testing, strengthening and rehabilitation, utilizing state-of-the-art MedX equipment installed on-site at each physician practice. Since first being introduced in late 2002, PainCare has deployed this Program in dozens of practices across North America.
Based on the success of its MedX-Direct program, PainCare began offering physician practices with a comprehensive, turnkey electro-diagnostic program in early 2004. Marketed as EDX-Direct, this program provides for PainCare to supply contracted physician practices with all equipment, technical training and support necessary to introduce electro-diagnostic medicine into their respective practice care offerings. Like the MedX-Direct program, physicians in the contracted EDX-Direct partnering program supply the necessary office space and manage all medical billing and collection activity.
Led by board-certified orthopedic surgeon and practice owner John A. Bruno, Jr. M.D., OMA was founded on the principle that patients seeking relief from chronic pain need not resort to surgery. Instead, Dr. Bruno and his team advocate a conservative, non-surgical approach to addressing both acute and chronic pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders and discomfort. With the assistance of sophisticated diagnostic equipment not normally found in a private practice setting, the practice endeavors to more accurately assess the origin of the pain. With physical therapy and other non-surgical modalities available on site to be utilized as treatments, OMA works with the patient to restore functionality and enhanced quality of life.
“I’ve been a practicing orthopedic surgeon since 1976. Experience has taught me that although surgery is sometimes necessary, it is most often not required in order to help reduce or eliminate suffering. In fact, it is my educated opinion that surgery should be strictly reserved as a last resort to providing viable pain relief. Technology advancements in pain management diagnostic tools and treatments, such as those found with PainCare’s MedX- Direct and EDX-Direct Programs, have created the opportunity for specialists to take a very pro-active, patient-interactive approach to overcoming pain. I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work with PainCare to institute on-site physical therapy and nerve conduction studies, which I’m confident will greatly benefit our patients,” stated Dr. Bruno.
