SCHENECTADY, N.Y., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- MVP Health Care has earned “Best in Market” status from IBM and as a result will insure an additional 25,000 of the company’s current employees and retirees in the Hudson Valley, Capital District, and Southern Tier of New York state as well as Vermont.
The designation follows an extensive review by IBM and its consultants Hewitt and Towers Perrin of MVP’s capabilities in the areas of quality improvement, customer service, information technology and medical management.
“This is a complex offering that demonstrates that MVP is fully capable of providing the cutting edge excellence that employers demand from health insurers,” said David W. Oliker, MVP president and chief executive officer.
“IBM’s decision to designate MVP as a ‘Best in Market partner’ will result in our developing a number of new programs such as health savings accounts that will benefit IBM, and that will also allow us to continue to improve our capabilities and offer new products to all of our customers,” Oliker said.
MVP has a long-standing relationship with IBM as an HMO. The “Best in Market” designation by IBM means that MVP will now administer the company’s self-insured Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) and Indemnity plans along with the HMO representing increased enrollment for the regional health insurer which currently serves 550,000 members primarily in New York state and Vermont.
