Mercy & Unity Hospitals Release: Hospitals To Hold Community Forum On Nutrition, Supplements And Prostate Cancer

FRIDLEY, Minn., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Moyad, MD, MPH, a nationally recognized expert on nutrition and supplements, will lead a free community forum on prostate cancer on Monday, September 13, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Unity Hospital Auditorium, 550 Osborne Road, Fridley.

Nutrition and supplements play an important role in the prevention and treatment of cancer. Herbal remedies and supplements are taken by millions of Americans each year at a cost of more than $12 billion a year, according to the American Cancer Society. This forum will address which minerals, herbs, supplements may be useful in preventing or treating cancer and which ones should be used to prevent or treat prostate cancer specifically.

An expert in prostate cancer education, Moyad has lectured nationally and internationally on nutrition, vitamins, minerals, herbs and other supplements to prevent the growth of prostate cancer or to complement the treatment of prostate cancer.

A member of the University of Michigan Urology/Oncology Department, Moyad also serves as the Director of Complementary Medicine and Clinical Cancer Researcher/Consultant and Public Health Educator.
