MediPurpose Announces Exclusive Distribution Agreement For Sangofer(TM) Blood Separation Product

ATLANTA, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- MediPurpose announced today an exclusive distribution agreement for the Sangofer Blood Separation System, patented and manufactured by the Heim Group (Gladbeck, Germany). The distribution agreement allows MediPurpose to sell and market the Sangofer system in North and Central America.

MediPurpose aims to introduce this unique system to the US blood transfusion market after obtaining approval from FDA. The Sangofer system allows technicians to separate fresh donor blood into plasma and red blood cell components using the simple effect of gravity without the need for cumbersome and expensive centrifuge systems. The system can be put into place in the field, requires minimal supervision or staff, and does not require specialized cooling, storage, or even electricity. The Sangofer System is made possible by the use of two specialized, gravity fed filters which separate the leukocytes, red blood cells and plasma.

Randy Prather, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for MediPurpose commented, “The Sangofer System is a new technique in harvesting blood from donors, and a quantum leap in the ability of laboratories and blood centers to efficiently, safely and economically draw and separate blood products for later use in the healthcare system. We are very excited to add this innovative product to our successful line of SurgiLance Safety Lancets.”

The new agreement takes effect immediately, however sales and marketing of the Sangofer product in the U.S. will take place after FDA approval. The Sangofer System is expected to revolutionize modern transfusion methods and could dramatically alter blood collection and transfusion methods on the battlefield as well as in areas without access to electricity. Moreover, the blood products produced by the Sangofer System meets the guidelines of the Council of Europe, Publishing, 11th edition, for the preparation, use and quality assurance of blood components. The Sangofer System is currently being tested by several blood centers in America.
