MedAssets Supply Chain Systems Awards Instrumentation Laboratory New Contract For Critical Care Portfolio

LEXINGTON, Mass., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Instrumentation Laboratory (IL) today announced that MedAssets Supply Chain Systems has signed a new contract for its GEM Premier 3000 critical care analyzer and CO-Oximeters. This is IL’s second multi-year contract with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems; the first, established in 2002, was extended one year.

The agreement covers IL’s critical care analyzers, reagents, consumables and service, including the GEM(R) Premier(TM) 3000 analyzer for blood gas, electrolyte and metabolite testing. This analyzer features Intelligent Quality Management (iQM(TM)), a real-time, automated, continuous quality assurance system that helps ensure the quality of every test result and reduce costs and time. In addition, the agreement includes IL’s CO-Oximeters: the IL682, a benchtop analyzer, and the GEM OPL, a portable, whole blood CO-Oximeter.

“We have chosen to renew our relationship with Instrumentation Laboratory so our hospital customers can continue to benefit from their high quality critical care technology. In addition, IL’s products offer significant cost-efficiencies to our customers, which is a key criterion in our selection process,” said Mary Ellen Kimmeth, Vice President, Laboratory Division at MedAssets Supply Chain Systems.

At the MedAssets Healthcare Business Summit in April 2006, IL was recognized as a Platinum Vendor by MedAssets for outstanding achievement; criteria include outstanding increases in revenue, member value, administrative support and advancement of MedAssets’ corporate values. This is MedAssets’ top vendor award.

“We are very honored to be chosen as a Platinum Vendor by MedAssets; and now, to have our relationship extended through this new contract clearly demonstrates the value of our products to their customers,” said Brian Durkin, Director of Sales and National Accounts at IL. “Our goal is to provide the medical community with products that help ensure the highest quality patient care -- the kind of care MedAssets customers deliver every day.”
