Lippert Components Chooses Powerheart G5 Aeds For Health And Safety Program

WAUKESHA, Wis., Aug. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cardiac Science announced the sale of 25 Powerheart G5 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to Lippert Components, Inc. (LCI®), a tier-1 supplier of parts and accessories to the RV, manufactured housing, trailer, and bus industries.

The Powerheart G5 AED is the first FDA-cleared AED to combine fully automatic shock delivery, fast shock times, and dual-language functionality to fight the leading cause of death in the United States: sudden cardiac arrest.

The Powerheart G5 is the newest AED from Cardiac Science, an Opto Circuits group company and global leader in AEDs. It is the first FDA-cleared AED to offer a combination of automatic shock delivery, variable escalating energy, and rapid shock times. The device enables anyone, from a first-time user to a professional rescuer, to respond to a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) incident.

"Our employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to providing a safe work environment for them in each of our facilities," said Erick Click, Director, Environmental Health & Safety at LCI. "The new Powerheart G5 AEDs are exceptionally easy to use, with fully automatic shock delivery and prompts for both AED use and CPR. They'll make it possible for our first responders to respond quickly and effectively if a co-worker or visitor suffers sudden cardiac arrest."

Lippert Components, a wholly owned subsidiary of Drew Industries Incorporated, is headquartered in Elkhart, Ind., with approximately 7,000 employees at facilities in the United States and Canada. Many of the facilities have large numbers of Spanish-speaking employees, making the Powerheart G5, with its capability to give prompts in Spanish as well as English, particularly useful, according to Click.

"We looked closely at the needs of our customers and there was clearly a need for an AED to offer bilingual capabilities," said Al Ford, Cardiac Science General Manager and Senior Vice President of Sales / Marketing. "This is why our new Powerheart G5s offer the option of a second language, either in Latin American Spanish or Canadian French."

LCI's 25 new Powerheart G5 units are in addition to more than 25 Powerheart® G3 Plus AEDs already deployed at the company's facilities. Click said that a recent cardiac arrest incident at an LCI facility brought the need for additional AEDs to the company's attention.

"A first responder performed CPR and, fortunately, EMTs with an AED arrived in time," Click said. "We realized that we could improve our response by having more AEDs on site and immediately available."

The Powerheart G5 is designed for both ease of use and ease of maintenance. It conducts daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests and has a highly visible indicator to confirm the device's Rescue Ready® status. It comes with an 8-year warranty and a 4-year performance guarantee on its Intellisense® medical-grade non-rechargeable batteries.
