Independence Blue Cross Promotes Corporate Compliance Officer; Karen Lessin To Lead Internal Audit And Corporate Compliance

PHILADELPHIA, March 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Karen Lessin has recently been promoted to Senior Vice President, Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance Officer. Lessin’s promotion reflects the increasing scope, complexity and importance of her broad functional areas of responsibility to Independence Blue Cross.

She will continue to direct a company-wide compliance program and the company’s anti-fraud program and report directly to IBC President and CEO, Joseph A. Frick.

In her 20 years with Independence Blue Cross, Lessin has held positions of increasing responsibility as the Compliance Director for Federal Employee Programs, the Director of Operations for AmeriHealth New Jersey and in other positions at IBC’s managed care subsidiaries. She was most recently the Vice President of Audit and Corporate Compliance.

As a member of IBC’s first Development Council, she completed the IBC Executive Development Program offered through the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her MBA in Health Administration from Temple University and her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University. Lessin is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association.
