BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthPartners is ranked among the highest quality Medicare plans in the nation according to a Top 10 list released by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. Health plans named to the list are the nation’s top overall performers on a range of key measures including care for diabetes, heart disease and depression. The list is designed to highlight the issue of health care quality according to the NCQA, a nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies health care organizations across the United States.
“We know that providing care based on the best scientific evidence not only improves health outcomes and quality of life for patients, it also reduces their medical expenses,” said Mary Brainerd, president and chief executive officer, HealthPartners. “The NCQA list is a great tool for seniors because it enables them to consider the quality of care in addition to cost and benefits when choosing a health plan.”
HealthPartners clinical measures that rank among the highest in the nation include:
-- Beta Blocker treatment after heart attack -- Breast and colon cancer screening -- Diabetes care -- Effective anti-depressant medication -- Blood pressure control
This is HealthPartners third honor this year from NCQA. In September, HealthPartners received the NCQA’s highest accreditation mark of “Excellent” for its commercial and Medicare Advantage products.
