Under the terms of the agreement, GeneBio’s Phenyx will be integrated with Proxeon’s ProteinCenter to provide proteomics scientists with a professional bioinformatics solution to significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of analyzing and interpreting mass spectrometry data. The integration will be through direct links from Phenyx identifications to ProteinCenter and specific Phenyx exports loaded into ProteinCenter.
ProteinCenter, based on a consolidated, biologically annotated, protein sequence database derived from all major protein databases, enables filtering, protein grouping and statistical bioinformatic analysis of single, combined or comparison proteomics search results. Users benefit from faster, more confident data interpretation through one unique analytical tool. (http://www.proxeon.com/productrange/data_interpretation/introduction/index.html)
Developed in collaboration with the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), Phenyx is GeneBio’s renowned software platform for the identification and characterization of proteins and peptides from mass spectrometry data. The Phenyx platform is specifically designed to meet the concurrent demands of high-throughput MS data analysis and dynamic results assessment via a customizable architecture and an innovative user-friendly interface. “Phenyx is a well-established search engine used for protein identification within the proteomics community,” said Morten Bern, Director of Bioinformatics for Proxeon. “ProteinCenter is used to put identified proteins into a biological context within minutes – a process that can take months using conventional tools. The integration of Phenyx’s results into ProteinCenter, rapidly providing highly accurate and reliable identification results, will be extremely valuable to our clients.”
“We realize that customers can benefit significantly from tools that facilitate data analysis and interpretation downstream of protein identification,” said Nasri Nahas, CEO of GeneBio. “The integration of Phenyx and ProteinCenter will provide a seamless solution that puts their data into a biological context and is far less time consuming. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with Proxeon that will truly benefit the scientific community.”
The collaboration extends to co-marketing activities; ProteinCenter will be distributed through Proxeon and GeneBio sales channels, while GeneBio will continue as the supplier of Phenyx.
