TalkPoint, leading provider of the Tools, Technology and Services for Interactive Internet Broadcasting, and FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com, the leading webcast and DVD source for FDA Advisory Committee Meetings, today announced that TalkPoint will be powering the Cardiovascular and Renal Drug Advisory Committee Meeting scheduled for February 3rd, 2009.
The Cardiovascular and Renal Drug Advisory Committee Meeting is being held to decide whether or not to approve a competitor drug to Plavix, the second-biggest selling drug in the world. The new drug in question is called prasugrel and would be marketed by Eli Lilly & Co with potential co-marketing by Japan’s Daiichi Sankyo Co., the drug’s discoverer.
According to reports released Friday, prasugrel has shown to be more effective than Plavix in preventing heart attacks, but also a higher risk to cause dangerous bleeding. These are the issues that have been considered and will likely be commented upon as the Advisory Committee decides on approval.
“TalkPoint is proud of our relationship with FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com,” said Nick Balletta, CEO of TalkPoint. He continued, “We have been the underlying technology to FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com for a while now and we love that our technology helps provide a timely outlet for this important information. We understand the significance of the content and we take great pride in the fact that our solution helps the audience get this information in the quickest and easiest way possible.”
