Expanding Leksell Gamma Knife(R) product line

Leksell GammaPlan(R) PFX(TM) recently received 510(k) pre-market clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. With the introduction of Leksell Gamma Knife(R) Perfexion(TM), Elekta expands the Leksell Gamma Knife(R) product line with a completely new product that takes stereotactic radiosurgery to the next level. Leksell Gamma Knife(R) Perfexion(TM) provides a platform for further refinement and expansion of radiosurgical procedures in the brain.

Leksell GammaPlan(R) PFX(TM) plays a vital role in Elekta's new radiosurgical platform, as it provides the sophistication and computational capacity to drive Leksell Gamma Knife(R) Perfexion(TM), facilitates the creation of the most complex, sculpted dose distributions ever for radiosurgical applications and helps significantly boost Gamma Knife(R) surgery workflow.

Elekta provides complete planning solutions supporting clinical workflows

In addition to the radiosurgery planning system, Elekta will exhibit a full range of comprehensive and advanced treatment planning products for radiation therapy applications.

To support the Elekta Synergy(R) S and the recently announced Elekta Axesse(TM) sophisticated delivery systems, Elekta will highlight the 3D Line ERGO++ planning system, with treatment planning for Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Radiation Therapy (SRT). ERGO++ provides planning for Elekta Multileaf Collimator systems, including Beam Modulator(TM), as well as for multi vendor cylindrical collimators, mini- and micro-MLC products.

Visit Elekta at AAPM 2006 to see a demonstration of ERGO++ with AMOA Arc Modulation Optimization Algorithm for dynamic delivery of IMRT plans.

Elekta also will demonstrate the PrecisePLAN(R) treatment planning system on the same common dual-processor PC platform with safe and secure Linux operating system environment.

Elekta PrecisePLAN(R), with single-click generation of anatomical apertures for inverse planning and IMRT, is now faster than ever. PrecisePLAN(R) is a simple and effective IMRT planning solution for the community hospital and supports IGRT with Elekta XVI (VolumeView(TM)) workflows.

To complete the total treatment workflow session, visit the IMPAC booth, where MOSAIQ - the complete, integrated, image-enabled Electronic Medical Record (EMR) will be demonstrated. A DICOM RT PACS workstation provides support for the increased database storage demands of Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).

MOSAIQ-RTP will be shown as a work-in-progress, the next-generation distributed treatment planning system applications suite - integrated with IMPAC MOSAIQ information management applications. IMPAC will be showing industry-leading segmentation using a 3D technique for painting and erasing the tumor on multi-modality (CT, MR, PET) image studies and multi-temporal (daily X-ray Volume Imaging (XVI) cone beam studies) as a tool for 4D tumor tracking required for Adaptive Radiation Therapy. In addition, Elekta will premier for the first time XVMC leading Monte Carlo dose calculation results from MOSAIQ-RTP in PrecisePLAN(TM).

Elekta-Sponsored Events at AAPM

In addition to its exhibit on the trade show floor, Elekta will sponsor the following two special events:

- Monday, July 31, 12:00 - 1:30 pm: Luncheon with IMPAC, an Elekta Company. Focus on MOSAIQ, IMPAC's next-generation image-enabled oncology EMR, and outline details on how to prepare centers for their transition to MOSAIQ. - Tuesday, August 1, 12:15 - 1:30 pm: Treatment Planning Luncheon for Leksell Gamma Knife(R) users, featuring a demonstration of the new Leksell Gamma Knife(R) Perfexion(TM) and Leksell GammaPlan(R) PFX(TM) software overview.
