IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CorVel Corporation today announced it has successfully launched new enhancements within their bill review software (MedCheck) that will meet the needs of new state agency regulations and create process efficiencies for provider reimbursement. The states of Florida, Texas and California have passed Workers’ Compensation legislation that includes heavy fines for late payment to healthcare providers. CorVel’s continual investment in systems and technology has positioned the Company to meet the growing needs of their customers, including compliance with state mandates. Some of the new features of CorVel’s provider reimbursement solutions include the MedCheck Operations Dashboard (MOD), Escalation Profiling and the Date Paid Module.
CorVel Corporation has pioneered these new tools to create a ‘one-stop- shop’ for the reimbursement process and will bridge the gap between providers and payors. CorVel’s new tools allow for efficient processing of medical bills with prompt and accurate reimbursement, to expedite claims processing and closure. Faster turnaround time and reimbursement tools generate improved transactions and communications with providers.
MedCheck is CorVel’s proprietary bill review and claims management technology. The MOD is an internal MedCheck application used to provide key metrics on behalf of CorVel’s customers to help facilitate timely bill review. These reports can be organized in the form of charts, graphs and spreadsheets. Currently, the MOD is in development for direct access to customer via the CareMC web portal.
The Escalation Profiler generates reports on targeted bills that allow clients to view up-to-date information about bill processing turnaround time, such as the days elapsed since the received date and the time bills have resided in a certain status. The report displays real-time bill information on outlier bills aggregated by week, status and can be configured to be sent each night as an e-mail attachment. A primary feature of the Escalation Profiler is the ability of the customer to configure the reports according to their own defined thresholds.
The third main feature of the new system is the Date Paid Module. Certain state regulatory agencies require carriers to submit medical bill information electronically for Workers’ Compensation claims. When CorVel submits this information to the states on behalf of our customers, the file needs to include the actual dates bills were paid. CorVel receives date paid information from our customers through files that include CorVel bill control numbers and the associated dates the bills were paid.
“CorVel is offering these new features to combat increasing pressures from various states. With new Workers’ Compensation legislation, an increasing issue in Florida, our clients need more control. With our new systems we have been able to identify the needs of our clients and follow through with impressive results,” says Mary Walters, CorVel Southern Regional Vice President.
The new system works in direct correlation with CorVel’s existing tools including eRoster, Claims Browser and Bill Tracker. The online eRoster allows users to view and approve bills, print EORs, send back a bill for further review and view the Treatment Calendar. The Claims Browser provides an online tool to manage claims efficiently. The Claims Browser is used to look up claims by claimant name, claim number, CorVel case number, cases date range, SSN, adjuster last name, employer name, and/or claim status. The CareMC Bill Tracker function is an end-to-end tracking service that allows the customer to view bill history details. The read-only page shows a description of the bill and its current status. Once it has been approved, the Bill Tracker will show who approved the bill and if the bill was approved by a customer or a MedCheck analyst.
