San Diego (June 3, 2014) – Cibus Global, a leader in precision gene editing technology, announces participation in prestigious industry events by company leadership, including Dr. Peter Beetham, Senior Vice President, Research and Development, Dr. David Songstad, Director of Research/Cell Biology, and Dr. Christian Schöpke, Senior Research Fellow and head of the Cell Biology Department. Events include the World Forum on Biology, the BIO International Convention, and the First International Conference on Genomics, Traits & Business.
“The work of Cibus Global’s research scientists is leading to innovative new products in agricultural, industrial and healthcare markets, underscoring the company as a trailblazer in developing gene editing technology,” Beetham noted.
2014 World Forum on Biology, June 3rd, Savannah, GA
Dr. Songstad, President of the Society of In Vitro Biology as well as a Director of Research at Cibus, is convening an event from 8:00am-10:00am on “Genome Editing/Gene Delivery/Targeted Mutagenesis.” The event’s panelists, including Dr. Schöpke, will discuss new methods to edit genes using engineered enzymes, such as oligonucleotide directed mutagenesis. New technologies have allowed scientists to design novel experiments in the framework of the endogenous genome and hold significant promise for future gene therapy strategies and agricultural product development.
2014 Bio International Convention, June 24th, San Diego, CA
Dr. Beetham will present at the “R/Evolution of Agricultural Biotechnology” forum, along with other pioneers in the field on a panel designated “The Vanguard: People, Science and Products Leading the R/Evolution,” from 3:30pm-5:30pm. Dr. Beetham will elaborate on recent advances in precision gene editing and agricultural biotechnology, as well the products and science Cibus is developing to continue the rapid progress in the industry. The forum will focus on the disruptive innovations and evolutions within biotechnology research, and how that science has translated into successful agricultural and industrial products. Dr. Beetham, as SVP of Research and Development, is uniquely qualified to discuss the products and ideas that are poised to revolutionize agricultural biotechnology in the coming years.
First International Conference on Genomics, Traits & Business (Sept. 21-24) Charlotte, NC
Dr. Beetham will provide a presentation on ‘Rapid Trait Development System: A Non-transgenic Approach to Providing Plant Improvements.’ RTDS™ has a number of globally acceptable applications in agriculture and other areas of opportunity where precise, fine structure changes in genes can be applied to develop or improve a new product. Dr. Beetham will speak to attendees about Cibus Global’s revolutionary new technology, how and why it was developed, and the significant commercial possibilities for RTDS.
