ASMR is the for-profit venture arm of the American Society for Microbiology focused on funding, advising, and promoting early-stage bioscience companies to help position them for subsequent rounds of funding.
“At this year’s Beyond Great Science, we look forward to hearing from companies involved in some of the best deals and financings of 2003, which was a challenging funding year for both bioentrepreneurs and early-stage investors,” said Christine Copple, PhD, President & CEO of ASMR. “As for the competition, this year’s field of entrants was very strong. Our 21 finalists represent a wide range of bioscience enterprises offering exciting technologies and business innovations as they aspire to follow in the footsteps of our conference panelists, including last year’s first-place winner, A&G Pharmaceutical. A&G is showcased on this year’s business development panel following a year of substantial progress in technology and product advancement, business and management development, and increasing company valuation.”
Some 150 investors, industry executives, and life sciences researchers and entrepreneurs are expected to attend “Beyond Great Science 2004.” BioAccelerator of Fairfax County, Virginia is this year’s event sponsor.
